The Time is fulfilled
The Time is fulfilled
(πεπλήρωται ὁ καιρὸς)
in the New Testament
14
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15
And saying,
The time is fulfilled,
( πεπλήρωται ὁ καιρὸς)
and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
6
Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: ( ὁ καιρὸς ὁ ἐμὸς οὔπω πάρεστιν), but your time is alway ready.
7
The world cannot hate you;
but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
8
Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast;
for
my time is not yet full come
( ὁ ἐμὸς καιρὸς οὔπω πεπλήρωται).
4
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem;
(because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6
And so it was, that, while they were there,
the days were accomplished
( ἐπλήσθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι)
that she should be delivered.
20
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21
Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains;
and let them which are in the midst of it depart out;
and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22
For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be
fulfilled
( τοῦ πλησθῆναι πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα).
23
But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days!
for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
24
And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles ( Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἔσται πατουμένη ὑπὸ ἐθνῶν), until the times of the Gentiles
be fulfilled
( ἄχρι οὗ πληρωθῶσιν καιροὶ ἐθνῶν).
25
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars;
and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity ( ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς συνοχὴ ἐθνῶν ἐν ἀπορίᾳ);
the sea and the waves roaring;
26
Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
3
Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
4
But when
the fulness of the time
( τὸ πλήρωμα τοῦ χρόνου)
was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5
To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
9
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10
That in the dispensation of
the fulness of times
( τοῦ πληρώματος τῶν καιρῶν)
he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth;
even
in him:
The Time is fulfilled
(מָלָא)
in the Old Testament
21
And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she
was
barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22
And the children struggled together within her;
and she said, If it be so, why am I thus?
And she went to enquire of the LORD.
23
And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels;
and the one people shall be stronger than the other people;
and the elder shall serve the younger.
24
And when her days to be delivered
were fulfilled
( מָלָא)
( ἐπληρώθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι)
behold,
there were
twins in her womb.
21
And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my
days are fulfilled
( מָלָא)( πεπλήρωνται γὰρ αἱ ἡμέραι μου), that I may go in unto her.
‹…›
27
Fulfil
( מָלָא)( συντέλεσον)
her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
28
And Jacob did so, and
fulfilled
( מָלָא)( ἀνεπλήρωσεν)
her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.
The Time came
(זְמָן)
in the Old Testament
The time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
17
These great beasts, which are four,
are
four kings,
which
shall arise out of the earth.
18
But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
19
Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth
were of
iron, and his nails
of
brass;
which
devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20
And of the ten horns that
were
in his head, and
of
the other which came up, and before whom three fell;
even
of
that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look
was
more stout than his fellows.
21
I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22
Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High;
and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
