Benedict XVI, Pope Vatican. Personalities Bertone, Tarcisio

Pope Francis

Francis (born Jorge Mario Bergoglio) is the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church.

Born: December 17, 1936; Buenos Aires, Argentina

Pope:  March 13, 2013
Cardinal:  February 21, 2001
Bishop:  June 27, 1992
Ordination:  December 13, 1969

Bergoglio entered the Society of Jesus as a novice on March 1958 and officially became a Jesuit on 12 March 1960.

Pope had chosen the papal name Francis in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi.

His motto, «Miserando atque eligendo», is taken from a homily of St. Bede on Мat 9:9-13, who commented that Jesus "saw the tax collector and, because he saw him through the eyes of mercy and chose him, he said to him: 'Follow me'".

Let us build the new social justice assuming that the Christian tradition never recognized the right to private property as absolute and untouchable and always emphasized the social function of any of its forms.

The right to property is a secondary natural right derived from the right that everyone has, born from the universal destination of created goods. There is no social justice that can be based on inequality, which is the concentration of wealth.

“I want the Church to go into the streets”

I want the Church to go out into the streets, I want us to defend ourselves against all worldliness, opposition to progress, from that which is comfortable, from that which is clericalism, from all that which means being closed up in ourselves. Parishes, schools, institutions are made in order to come out … if they do not do this, they become a non-governmental organisation, and the Church must not be an NGO”.
