Order of the Discalced Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel (O.C.D.)

lat. Ordo Fratrum Diacalceatorum Beatae Mariae Virginis de Monte Carmelo, O.C.D.

An order that broke away from the main branch of the Carmelites in the 16th century. Its origin is associated with the activities of the great Carmelite saints — Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross, as well as with the desire of part of the Carmelite brethren to live according to the strict original charter of the order.

Congregation of the Syro-Malabar Rite of Carmelite Spirituality, operates in India.
