Our Lady of La Salette
The Apparition happened on the 19th of September of 1846, the eve of the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Two children, Maximin Giraud and Melanie Calvat, saw in a brilliant light a most beautiful crying lady sitting on the stones at the border of a withered fountain. The lady then rose and in a gentle voice bade the children not be afraid, but to come forward, for that she had great news to tell them: "Come, my children, fear not, I am here to proclaim great news to you". Our Lady said how it is hard to her to implore God, to intercede for the people, who continue to sin, how difficult it is to keep God's right hand from His just punishment. She asked to pray, to convert to God, to make peace with Him, to understand that all the hardships that fall on the people are caused only by human sin. She invited people to respect the repose of the seventh day, and the name of God.
Virgin had permitted to Melanie to make her secret public in 1858 (this is the year of Lourdes apparition). This secret caused a lot of debate and controversy which did not cease for several decades. Maximin did not make his secret public during his lifetime. But in 1888 the copy of the secret (transmitted through Cardinal Antonelli) was published in the "Annales du Surnaturel". Some parts of the secrets are given in a veiled manner, so that one can only understand with faith and with some time, effort and thoughts.
After five years of investigation, the bishop of Grenoble, Philibert de Bruillard announced in 1851 that the apparition was likely to be a true revelation and authorised the commencement of the cult of Our Lady of La Salette. Basilica of Our Lady of La Salette. This determination was later confirmed by his successor, Bishop Ginoulhiac, in 1855. In the same year on the mountain of La Salette began the construction of the Basilica of Our Lady of La Salette.

Than Our Lady paused and it seemed to Melanie that she was speaking to the boy, but she heard nothing of what was said;
then, in like manner, she spoke to Melanie, and the boy saw that she was speaking, or seeming to speak, but could not hear what was said, or whether any thing was really being said at all. The secrets given to the two children are very different. Melanie said that both secrets was written and were sent in 1851 to Pope 
Although Virgin's apparition occurred more than 150 years ago, Her words are more than relevant today. Her secrets and messages are important to people all over the world. Her calls will be powerful until the end of times. She still is asking us as those children from the mountain of La Salette to pray:
"Take care always to say your prayers, my children, every night and morning. When you can do nothing else, say only a Pater and an Ave Maria;
but when you have time, say more."
