The Immaculate Heart of Mary
The Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Gospel
18
And all they that heard
it
wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. ... 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. Мф 7, 28. Мк 1, 22. Лк 4, 32. Ин 7, 15. 48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? Мал 3, 1. 50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. Лк 9, 45. 51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. Luk 2:18-19,46-51
The Mother of God is the person who "hears the word of God" better than anybody else and "keeps it" in her Immaculate Heart.
27
And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed
is
the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.
Лк 1, 48.
28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. Luk 11:27-28
The salvation of the world has been placed in the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Cardinal Cerejeira was in Brazil, where the Marian Congress of Campinas took place.
From the two parts of the Secret already revealed — the third part has not been made known, but it has been written and placed in a sealed envelope and will be opened in 1960 — we know enough to enable us to conclude that the salvation of the world, in this extraordinary moment of history, has been placed by God in the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
In the end the Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumphThe apparition of Our Lady in Fatima on 13 July 1917.
You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion (port. a devoção) to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. … [God] is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation (port. a Comunhão reparadora) on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.
The prayer of the Holy Rosary will be declared liturgical prayer
I have great hope that the day will not be long in coming in which the prayer of the Holy Rosary will be declared liturgical prayer. Yes, because all of it forms part of the Liturgy of the Most Holy Eucharist. We pray, work, sacrifice ourselves and trust that — "In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph!"

The triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
May the seven years which separate us from the centenary of the apparitions hasten the fulfilment of the prophecy of the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to the glory of the Most Holy Trinity.

The key expression of the “secret”
I would like finally to mention another key expression of the “secret” which has become justly famous: “my Immaculate Heart will triumph”. What does this mean? The Heart open to God, purified by contemplation of God, is stronger than guns and weapons of every kind. The «fiat» of Mary, the word of her heart, has changed the history of the world, because it brought the Saviour into the world — because, thanks to her «Yes», God could become man in our world and remains so for all time. The Evil One has power in this world, as we see and experience continually; he has power because our freedom continually lets itself be led away from God. But since God himself took a human heart and has thus steered human freedom towards what is good, the freedom to choose evil no longer has the last word. From that time forth, the word that prevails is this: “In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33). The message of Fatima invites us to trust in this promise.

FATIMA IN LUCIA’S OWN WORDS, V.I. [pdf] ![]() APPENDIX III. THE MESSAGE OF FATIMA
The Immaculate Heart of Mary will save RussiaLetter of Sister Lucia to Father Goncalves (1936-05-18).
THE CONSECRATION OF RUSSIA: TRIUMPH OF THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY. Intimately I have spoken to Our Lord about the subject, and not too long ago I asked Him why He would not convert Russia without the Holy Father making that consecration? “Because I want My whole Church to acknowledge that consecration as a triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so that it may extend its cult later on, and put the devotion to this Immaculate Heart beside the devotion to My Sacred Heart.” “PRAY VERY MUCH FOR THE HOLY FATHER!” “But my God, the Holy Father probably won’t believe me, unless You Yourself move him with a special inspiration.” “The Holy Father! Pray very much for the Holy Father. He will do it, but it will be late!” AN UNCONDITIONAL PROMISE. “Nevertheless the Immaculate Heart of Mary will save Russia. It has been entrusted to Her.”
Fatima. Letter of Lucia to Irene Posnoff (1951)On November 21, 1950 about a hundred Russian Catholics from different countries arrived at Rome for the jubilee year. The inspirer and soul of this pilgrimage was Miss Irene Posnoff, devoted to the two holy causes of the Marian apostolate and the conversion of Russia. The Russian pilgrims decided to write the petition and to send it to the Pope asking him to make the consecration of Russia requested by Our Lady of Fatima. They united under the Russicum — Russian Catholic seminary. It was decided to wait another year so that the Russian Catholics from the whole world could be informed, and as well could join in. At the end of 1951 or the beginning of 1952, the Pope Pius XII received the petition of the Russian pilgrims, the petition they had decided to send the year before in Rome. However, contrary to Lucia’s hopes, this petition still did not ask for the consecration of Russia «such as it was requested by Our Lady». Miss Posnoff had written to Sister Lucia, and had received from her this very simple, but profound response:
Our Heavenly Mother loves the Russian people and I love them also; uniting myself to the secret designs of Her Immaculate Heart, I ardently desire their return to the right road which leads to Heaven. I know that the Russian people are great, generous and cultured, that they are capable of walking on the paths of justice, truth and good. No sooner had I seen the kindness of the Mother of God in their regard than I began to look on them as brothers, and I wish nothing more than their salvation. I know that the true faith, the Christian faith is alive among you; I know that there are chosen souls among you who serve God and sacrifice themselves to obtain the salvation of those who have left Him. Nobody can and nobody must fulfil this great mission better than the very members of your country. It is a task which will take not just one day, but many years of work and prayer. But in the end, the Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph, and it will be our happiness to have worked a little and suffered for Her triumph. Do not cease doing everything you can for the salvation of your people and your homeland.
Third Secret. Apostasy in the Church. Father Alonso
If in Portugal the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved, it can be clearly deduced from this that in other parts of the Church these dogmas are going to become obscure or even lost altogether. It is quite possible that the message not only speaks of a «crisis of faith» in the Church during this period, but also, like the Secret of La Salette, that it makes concrete references to internal strife among Catholics and to the deficiencies of priests and religious. It is also possible that it may imply deficiencies even among the upper hierarchy of the Church.

Third Secret. Crisis of Faith. Father Alonso
“In Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved”: The phrase most clearly implies a critical state of Faith, which other nations will suffer, that is to say, a crisis of Faith; whereas Portugal will preserve its Faith. ‹…› In the period preceding the great triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, terrible things are to happen. These form the content of the third part of the Secret. What are they? If “in Portugal the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved”… it can be clearly deduced from this that in other parts of the Church these dogmas are going to become obscure or even lost altogether. ‹…› Thus it is quite possible that, in this intermediate period which is in question (after 1960 and before the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary), the text makes concrete references to the crisis of the Faith of the Church and to the negligence of the pastors themselves. ‹…› One conclusion does indeed seem to be beyond question: the content of the unpublished part of the Secret does not refer to new wars or political upheavals, but to happenings of a religious and intra-Church character, which of their nature are still more grave.
“In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph”
[Mary], you promised the three children of Fatima that ‘in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph’. May it be so! May love triumph over hatred, solidarity over division, and peace over every form of violence! May the love you bore your Son teach us to love God with all our heart, strength and soul. May the Almighty show us his mercy, strengthen us with his power, and fill us with every good thing (cf. Lk 1:46-56).
